I got this (my favorite color) Purple Brita Grand knowing that a few of reviews stated a problem with the lid coming off quite easily & IT DOES, one would thing that Brita's QA department would have noticed this and correct it by now. What I did to correct this problem was to take a rubber band and placed it under the lid around the part that fits into the pitcher & PRESTO it actually works...take a HINT Brita. The water always comes out very clean and with excellent taste (which, to my mind, is none at all). The only issue I ever had with the product design is that there's no way to replace the LCD timer that comes with the newer models. Consequently, if you like having a filter change reminder on the pitcher, you have to get a new pitcher after 5 years. That's probably not a bad idea since plastic tends to break down over time and become cracked and brittle, leaving places for bacteria to invade and fester. So, I was not terribly upset about getting a new pitcher. My rankling comes from the fact that the top of this new pitcher does not seat well on the water chamber as Menghsiu notes above. However, as others keep mentioning, the top falls off VERY easily, and the part you flip up to refill it comes off the hinge all the time. Even being careful, I still manage to make a mess every once in a while - the worst part is, if you've overfilled the Brita (bottom is full, some water on top still left to filter), and go to pour, the water on top pushes the top part off, getting water everywhere and get unfiltered water in whatever you were just pouring). Oddly enough, the top fits perfectly if you put it on backwards, but doesn't pour very well. |
