4.0 out of 5 stars Good Electric Kettle, January 21, 2005
This review is from: Proctor Silex K2070Y 1 Liter Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
This Electric Kettle is quite simple without any frills. For the price, it does what it claims to do. It boils water quickly , the water level is easy to see and has the auto-shut off feature. I have used it reliably to boil water for tea, oatmeal etc. The water is quite hot, so use caution when pouring it out. The lid , can sometimes be hard to close & open.

5.0 out of 5 stars Faster & Hotter than Microwaving, June 15, 2006

This review is from: Proctor Silex K2070Y 1 Liter Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
I first became hooked on electric kettles when traveling in the U.K. and have kept putting off getting one. This is perfect for my six (O, heavens did I really say six!) cups of tea a day. Faster than the microwave (only because its actually boiled and hot) and no worrys about...did I leave the stove on as it has a brilliant auto shut-off. It even stays plenty warm enough to top off the first cup of tea. I love it, am only sorry it took this many years to indulge my self with such a simple product!

P.S -- Terrific on snowy days when the kids come in and want hot coco...FAST! (Makes one feel like SuperMom for the rare second or two!!! <g>)

1.0 out of 5 stars Strong, "plastic" taste won't go away, July 14, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Proctor Silex K2070Y 1 Liter Electric Kettle (Kitchen)
Have used the Bodum electric kettle for travel for years, but decided I'd purchase this Proctor Silex for the office since it was a few bucks cheaper. That was a mistake.

Despite boiling and dumping out the water a half-dozen times, the water itself STILL tasted like "plastic." Ick. As a tea drinker, the quality of the water is key. Also, I found the general shape difficult to handle, the lid was hard to open, and when gently pouring the water it consistently (and dangerously) sloshed out the sides near the spout.

Anyway, I ended up giving this one away and buying an additional Bodum electric kettle for the office. It's working great, just like the 10-year-old Bodum I take traveling. (I think it's also interesting to note that the classic, no-frills, usable design of the Bodum has remain unchanged in the past 10 years - Hey, if it ain't broke, don't 'fix' it.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, much faster than reverse osmosis system, June 28, 2003
By
Matt (Rockford, MI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Brita 42401 On-Tap Replacement Filter, 1-Pack, Blue/White (Tools & Hardware)
I've been using the Brita faucet mount for 2 years now. Our water is VERY hard, with sulfur smells and rust, and the Brita works as well as our reverse osmosis unit, which has three in-line filters. Plus, it doesn't slow down like the reverse osmosis unit does when using lots of water (family gatherings, etc). It is NOT as fast as normal tap water, so don't go thinking you'll get tap-water speed out of such an intense filter. I have to replace the filter approximately every 2-3 months, depending on usage. Very handy when the r/o unit starts running out of water. I tend to use both the r/o and the Brita when filling a pot for boiling, etc just to make it go faster. I've used both the PUR and Brita, Brita works better on our water, although, for best taste, I also run it through a pitcher filter (as I said, our water is BAD). Tastes better than spring water!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good filters, great price -- but the light sometimes stops working, March 20, 2006

This filter is much easier to use than some other faucet-mount models. Installing the filter system is relatively easy, and replacing filters is even easier. Amazon's price (for filter system as well as replacement filters) is the lowest I could find online or retail, especially when I get "super saver" free shipping. The only problem with my filter system is the green "filter-is-in-use-and-is-working" indicator light occaisionally stops lighting up for a few days at a time, but then works fine again. I'm not sure whether or not this means that the red "time-to-change-filter" light comes on later than it should. But so far it hasn't bothered me enough to call customer service...

I have been using the Brita Filter for a number of years. It makes the water drinkable from the faucet. I also use it for making tea or coffee. Prior to buying the Filter I had to buy water now I just use water from the filtered faucet. Very good to have.

3.0 out of 5 stars Price seems off, December 10, 2009
This review is from: Walgreens Clearly Better Pitcher Filter Replacement Cartridge
The listed price for this item seems wrong. I just got a three-pack of these filters at a Walgreens store for about $15. Clearly someone has made a mistake because it seems the picture is for a one-filter pack but the price is quite high. What gives?

As for the quality, the jury is out. I replaced my Brita filter for a Brita pitcher with the Walgreens/Culligan less-costly replacement. And the water has a strange taste, almost like citrus. I can't understand that. It tastes flavored, and not a very good flavor. The water is the same as before. With the Brita filter it just tasted like clean, neutral water.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clean Water, November 2, 2009
By
Texman (East Texas, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Walgreens Clearly Better Pitcher Filter Replacement Cartridge
We have always had very good water but the last few years I have noticed more chlorine being added with the resulting smell and taste. This takes that out and I use it everyday for making coffee and tea and you can taste the difference. Since it uses activated charcoal and ion exchange it also removes mercury, copper, zinc and others but I use this for the improvement in water taste.
