Filter must not be shaken or the carbon particles will fall into reservoir - gentle hands are key. Still, keep your backup platic mesh cap on underneath the aqua prima just in case. Word of caution, you will lose some steam pressure. I drink black 85% of time, so I don't care and can remove the filter when I really want strong steam. Also, something else that just may be a quirk of my machine, you will get more coffee sludge accumulating faster behind brew group. It may become a deal breaker, but boy do I hate to descale, so I am conflicted on whether to continue using the aqua prima. I may just get too annoyed cleaning the extra sludge.
